One of the factors affecting function of the transplanted organ is a method of its storage. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effect of organ storing with new preservation solution “Biolasol” on transplanted kidney function.

In the period from February to November 2015 42 kidneys obtained from standard criteria donors were transplanted in one center. All kidneys were preserved with cold stored, half of them in “Biolasol” solution and the second half in UW solution.

38% and 33% episodes of delayed graft function (DGF) were observed in the study group and in the control group, respectively (p=NS). 14% and 0% episodes of functional DGF were observed in the study group and in the control group, respectively (p=0.08). A patient with DGF required an average of 2.25 haemodialysis in the study group and 1.86 in the control group. The mean serum creatinineconcentration 7, 30 and 60 days after transplantation was 4.64 mg/dl, 1.75 mg/dl and 1.7 mg/dl in the study group and 3.2 mg/dl, 1.53 mg/dl and 1.62 mg/dl in the control group, respectively (p=NS).

The results of kidney transplantation stored in new preservation solution "Biolasol" and in UW solution are comparable.
