UBio might be valuable in determining the etiology of renal dysfunction in LT candidates.Aim: Correlate UBio with pre-LT kidney biopsy and post-LT kidney function.Methods:78 LT candidates with renal dysfunction (iothalamate GFR<40ml/min or proteinuria>500mg/d) had pre-LT UBio. 28 patients had either pre-LT (n=20) or intra-operative (n=8) kidney biopsy. 58 patients received LT. Serum Cr and 24-hr urine Cr clearance were measured post-LT. UBio were correlated with the % interstitial fibrosis (IF) and % glomerulosclerosis (GS) on kidney biopsy and post-LT renal function. Results: Patients' demographics and biopsy findings are in Table 1
Variable | N=78 |
Median age | 61 |
%Caucasian | 92 |
%Male | 53 |
%HCV | 31 |
%Diabetes Mellitus | 41 |
%Hypertension | 61 |
Median serum Cr | 1.8 (0.6,3.3) |
Median iGFR | 29 (9,127) |
Kidney Biopsy findings | N=28 |
Median %IF | 5 (0,40) |
Median %GS | 22 (0,77) |
Correlations of UBio with biopsy findings are in Table 2

and with the post-LT renal function in Table 3Conclusions: elevated α-1m and low IGFBP-7 may reflect renal fibrosis LT candidates. No consistent pattern of UBio with post-LT renal function was observed.
