2015 Welcome Letter

It is with great pleasure that the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and the American Society of Transplantation (AST) invite you to attend the 2015 American Transplant Congress (ATC)!

The ATC is the foremost educational event in the field of basic and clinical transplantation. For the 2015 Congress, we head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The center is conveniently located to a number of hotels that have easy access to the venue as well as museums, shopping and restaurants.

The overall format of the meeting will not change. The Saturday afternoon pre-meeting symposia will continue to provide focused updates for those attendees who choose to come early to the meeting to get a head start in reviewing the state of their field. We will continue the Sunday – Wednesday morning format starting with Sunrise Symposia, followed by a joint plenary session and closing with our single-focused Midday Symposia.  The afternoons will be for concurrent abstracts sessions and featured sessions.

Don’t forget to encourage your trainees to attend the exciting, popular trainee-specific Sunday afternoon session that we debuted several years ago: The Science, The Art, and The Allure of Transplantation. This session features some of the top names in transplantation delivering honest, personal, and sometimes tear-jerking stories about the science of transplantation, their motivations for pursuing a career in transplantation, and their inspiration for remaining (and thriving) in our field.

ATC Night Out will take place Tuesday evening, with a new twist. As in recent years, this will be a fun networking event at a 2-story pub right near the convention center, with snacks, drinking, and dancing to a live band; but this year, we have added an extra dimension of entertainment: ATC’s Got Talent! You’ll be shocked to see how much talent is hiding within our community, but don’t worry, your colleagues will only be taking the stage during the band breaks.

The ever popular, “What’s Hot, What’s New” will be the feature presentation on Wednesday to close the meeting.

The American Transplant Congress is the meeting to attend with the widest range of educational opportunities. Philadelphia is a modern city, steeped in history that offers visitors a full-on fusion of old and new, traditional and trendy.  World-class dining, eclectic entertainment and unmatchable shopping will make this Congress one to remember, so please join us for a week of outstanding programs and for the opportunity to network with your colleagues and friends.
